Russell County Alternative Center

The Russell County Alternative Center provides an alternate setting for students who are experiencing problems at their local schools and may be considered "at-risk" of completing the requirements for a high school diploma. Admittance to any of our programs requires the high school principal referral, approval from the Alternative Administration and approval from the Alternative committee. These actions will then be followed with a pre-enrollment conference with the student and parents/guardians.

Most secondary students will follow a block schedule which allows them to take two subjects at a time for a nine-week period. The school year consists of 4 blocks that enable students to earn up to 8 credits toward graduation.

Alternate programs available are a Secondary Alternative Day Program, After School Program, ISAEP, Project Lifeline and a Middle School Alternative Day Program.

The administration and staff recognize that each student is unique and we provide an educational setting that offers instructional programs that address individual behavioral, academic and social needs of at-risk students.
